History

The evolution of the Collège Vétérinaire

The Veterinary College, established by Grand Ducal decree in 1945, is the institution responsible for regulating the veterinary profession in Luxembourg. Initially focused on livestock health monitoring and disciplinary oversight, its responsibilities have evolved alongside the growth of the profession, the increasing role of companion animals, and European integration.

Today, the Veterinary College:
  • Works closely with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Veterinary Services Administration, and European veterinary associations.
  • Has been a member of CLIOVF since 2016 and of the FVE since 2017.
  • Encourages conciliation and mediation in the event of a dispute, in accordance with the code of ethics.
The Veterinary College operates under the loi du 31 mai 2002 relative au Collège vétérinaire and is currently chaired by Mr. Jacob Vedder.
